Merry Christmas

Remember the movie Scrooged with Bill Murry? Such an awesome retelling of one of the best Christmas stories of all time! And the greatest moment of the movie is when Bill Murry’s character finally gets it. It may not be a Charles Dickens tear-inducing Tiny Tim moment, but stay with me…here’s what he yells in the middle of a crowded street:

“It’s Christmas Eve. It’s the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer, we smile a little easier, we cheer a little more. For a couple of hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be.”

And here we are, the day after Christmas, and what do we have to show for it? A new sweater, left-over fruitcake, a trash can filled with torn wrapping paper? Just think…if we took that Christmas Spirit, you know, beyond the exchange of presents, and acted a little nicer (especially when it is the hardest), smiled a little easier (who says it’s easy?), and cheered a little more (because building up is so much more productive than tearing down) – if we did all of that, how much better the world would be?

So, here’s to you and yours – Merry Christmas! And may your New Year be filled with a little niceness, lots of smiles, and the best cheerleading squad of all time!

Until next year!

Alicia
