#NationalDonorDay

Serendipitous. That’s what I should name this shot. My hubby and I had planned for weeks to shoot the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Tampa, and on Valentines Day we made it happen. While every other couple I know was enjoying a romantic dinner or a fun date night, my Valentine took me to both the North and the South Piers to capture this amazing image. And even though the South Pier provided a much closer shot with more bridge length available, my best shot of the night was from the North Pier.

It was also at the North Pier where the word serendipitous comes in to play. I truly had no idea why the Skyway was light up blue and green on Valentines Day…seemed odd. Why not pink or red? For an organization to get their colors on the bridge, one would have to jump through huddles and be approved. This is exactly what LifeLink of Florida did. Valentines Day is also National Donor Day – as in organ donor – makes sense. And the awareness colors are blue and green. Hence a blue and green Sunshine Skyway Bridge.

Representatives from LifeLink found themselves in the same situation I was in – cold, windy, rainy, and attempting to get a great night shot. We had an opportunity to exchange a few niceties, and when I was packing up my equipment, one of the reps asked if I would take her card and send any photos I’d be willing to share. That’s exactly what I did.

It was an honor to be included in raising awareness for this worthy cause. Serendipitous to say the least.
