On the Way to You by Kandi Steiner

Kandi Steiner is the Queen of Angst and definitely delivers with this one.

What makes you happy? That is a question we would all do well to consider in our lives. Steiner does a great job making one think through this question in an applicable way, all while confronting everyone’s internal fear: “… I don’t want to die before I’ve even had the chance to live.”

On the Way to You was my first Indy-Romance read, and while I am late to the game, I assure you it will not be my last. While the story line was predictable, not everything of value needs a shock and awe presentation.

I loved the unique way Steiner uses word choices to drive the story along – deserving, privilege, death, life, suicide, and my all time favorite “detonator”! (You’ll just have to read the story to know what I mean!) While on a physical journey to a physical destination, Cooper and Emery also took a journey toward each other…hence the title. And oh what a ride it was.

But Steiner doesn’t give us the typical, lighthearted romance novel – remember, “Queen of Angst.” Instead, she takes on deep and tough topics in this book – depression, loss, religion/belief, confidence in the face of adversity. I encourage you to not stop at THE END, but to read the author’s notes as well.

***Unsolicited Review.

Until Next Time,
