Absolutely, and you can blame the rodent delicacy of book binding glue for that little fact. That’s exactly why cats and libraries are a perfect match. Which would mean you’d expect me to have two of those loving, bookish creatures in my home – right?
Here’s the thing – I’ve never had cats. Cats were never my favorite of pets. My family has always been a dog-loving family, yet here I am with two of these little feline fur balls taking ownership of my home.
My baby, Jordan, the rescued canine who rescued me over twelve years ago, crossed that rainbow bridge a few months ago. The hole in my heart can, at times, be unbearable. I cannot begin to describe how important she was to me, nor are there proper words to express how grateful I am for the time we had with her.
Shortly before we had to make that tough decision, we brought a kitten into our lives. Jordan, our Pit Bull baby, and Osiris, our black cat, became best of buds… okay, that might be a bit embellished. They were quite cautious of each other at first, but after about a month, they were cuddling on the couch together. We claimed it as a success.
After Jordan left us, we brought Mr. Dorian Gray into our home, and it didn’t take long before the two cats became inseparable. So, now this dog-loving bibliophile is a cat owner. These two completely distinct personalities bring me so much joy. Osiris is quiet and regal – the coolest black cat around. While Dorian Gray is a troublemaker, and all-around-goofball, much like his namesake. Dorian begs for belly rubs, and both are cuddle-bugs.
In my library, there are no rodents to chase, but the books are a-plenty. There are lots of cuddles, tons of toys, and enough love for them both. Bookish indeed.
