SOS Cuba

Millions of Cubans across the world are shouting, “We cannot remain silent.” Most of humanity cannot even begin to understand the Cuban people’s plight – communism, oppression, poverty…and all for the sake of politics.

I’m not going to pretend I understand all the nuances surrounding the Cuban people and their struggles, but what I do know is that no one should ever live in that kind of fear from their government – a fear that trascends the normal and extends to life and death.

Freedom is not a word that should be thrown around flippantly, and one that is often taken for granted – and even in our small communities, there are Cubans – and Americans – who can no longer remain silent.

I am Maruchy Alfonso, I am of Cuban origin and I live in Lakeland and I was at that demonstration, I want to thank you for the photos and for the post supporting the people of Cuba.

    1. You are quite welcome. No one should ever have to live in fear – not knowing if you will live or die from day to day…all because of a violent and selfish dictatorship government. Prayers for all.
